About The Warming House

The Warming House is believed to be the oldest student-run soup kitchen in the country. Begun in 1974 as a drop-in community center for elderly adults, the Warming House has grown to offer one meal a day, year round. In 2025, the Warming House anticipates serving 8,500-9,000 meals.

Not only does the Warming House offer support to the Olean community struggling with food insecurity, but also offers St. Bonaventure students the opportunity to run a small not-for-profit and interact with a wide variety of people.

For more information about the Warming House, please feel free to reach out to Mike Waseda at hwaseda@sbu.edu. Our website is: https://www.sbu.edu/life-at-sbu/university-ministries/franciscan-center-for-social-concern.

The Warming House strives to offer good nourishment, good community and good dignity each time we serve our guests.

The Warming House is a Charity participating in the Week 8 Buccaneers at Bills a 50/50 Raffle event, presented by Buffalo Bills Foundation Inc..
