Since 1985, Habitat Buffalo has been at the forefront of combating the affordable housing crisis in Buffalo. Founded by passionate volunteers, we've grown into one of Western New York's largest residential homebuilders. Our mission goes beyond constructing houses; we revitalize underinvested neighborhoods and foster community ties, making long-lasting impacts where it's most needed.

Our Impact

• Construction Program: With over 350 homes built and rehabbed, our construction efforts unite over hundreds of volunteers annually—from corporations, faith groups, schools, and individual contributors. Each home demands approximately 6,000 hours of dedicated volunteer labor, showcasing the collective power of our community's commitment.
• Homebuyer Program: We empower families to lay down roots through homeownership, providing tools for financial stability and self-reliance. Participants receive financial education, contribute to savings, and engage in credit repair, alongside completing 400 hours of sweat equity. This journey culminates in the signing of an affordable 30-year mortgage, turning dreams of homeownership into reality.
• Neighborhood Revitalization Initiative: Our commitment extends beyond building homes. We activate and uplift entire communities by initiating local engagement projects such as community gardens, neighborhood cleanups, and critical home repairs. These efforts not only enhance the environment but strengthen communal bonds.
